Co-President’s Letter/Upcoming Meeting Date
Welcome, and thank you for joining Issaquah High
PTSA. Your memberships, donations, and willingness to volunteer will
help us provide much-needed funding and support to our teachers and
students over the course of the year. You are now part of one of the
most active and successful PTSA Councils in Washington. Did you know
that the Issaquah School District has only 1-1/2% of the students in the
state, but 10% of the state’s PTSA members? This is a community that
really cares about education!
If you haven’t done so already, please take some
time to visit our website at
www.issaquahhighptsa.org.
You’ll find a treasure trove of information including a calendar of PTSA
activities for the year and important announcements. If you have an
upperclassman, be sure to check out our college test prep classes and
mock test opportunities. And, if you have a senior, you can sign them up
for the Senior Celebration.
In
addition to the website, we will be in touch through other electronic
channels. Each month, you’ll receive this
IH PTSA e-newsletter, and each week, you’ll find
IH PTSA announcements included in the IHS e-news.
Of course, the best way to stay connected and
informed is to attend our monthly meetings. Principal Paula Phelps comes
to each one, so you’ll not only keep on top of IH PTSA happenings, but
learn about what’s going on at the school as well. We begin with coffee
time at 9:00 and then start the meeting promptly at 9:30. If that’s not
enough,
we’ll be giving out Issaquah Window Decals to the first 20 new people
and will also hold a drawing for Booster Club IHS logo items. So, our meetings aren’t just informative,
they’re fun!
Our first meeting is Friday, September 16th
in the main office conference room. We hope to see you there. In the
meantime, if you have any questions or if we can be of help in any way,
please contact us:

Practice, Practice, Practice!
Did you know that our PTSA has a couple of options to help your
student prepare for those very important college admission tests (SAT
and ACT)?
1. Mock (Practice) Exams: A Mock SAT exam is offered in
September, and February and a Mock ACT is offered at the end of
January. Mock exams are a great opportunity to take a practice exam and
get score results without it counting. The test score will be between
you and your student. Please note - Mock exams are different from the
PSAT that will be held at IHS during school on October 12th.
2. SAT Prep Classes: Prep classes for the SAT are offered in the
fall and winter. Both verbal and math classes are taught by
Issaquah High School teachers, and are offered in the afternoon and in
the evening. Exact dates and Registration for the Mock exams and SAT Preparation classes are available online. Visit our SAT/ACT Test Prep webpage.
If you have any questions, please contact Margaret Chalfant or
Tina Weber,
sat_act@issaquahhighptsa.org.
A big thank you to organizers Carol Jongejan, Lila Ruzicka and
Julie Quinn,
along with all of the volunteers who contributed their time
and/or food, for making the
Staff Fall Luncheon
a huge success! The teachers loved
the lunch and were very appreciative of everyone’s efforts, saying it
was a nice break for them during a very busy day of setting up their
classrooms!
All of the construction workers loved being fed,
too!
