Baccalaureate is an Annual non-Denominational Celebration for all
Seniors and their families. This annual, traditional part of graduation
week usually takes place a few days before graduation. The Baccalaureate service derives from the medieval European custom of presenting the candidates for the degree of Bachelor (bacca) with laurels (lauri) of sermonic oration. The Baccalaureate ceremony is a service of worship in celebration of and thanksgiving for lives dedicated to learning and wisdom. This Issaquah High School event has evolved over the years, and currently is meant to bring our diverse community together and honor the senior class, providing them with the opportunity for reflection and the sharing of joy and appreciation with each other, teachers, family and friends. The evening is a program of music, prose and a motivational speaker. Students wear their gowns. For more information, please contact PTSA Baccalaureate chairs: Blythe Meigs and Karen Starcevich |
