10th Annual Benefit Luncheon
Issaquah Schools Foundation’s 10th Annual Nourish Every Mind Benefit Luncheon was held on October 18
and raised a record $356,000. The
yearly affair gave attendees the opportunity to witness firsthand the impact
ISF programs makes on our students and schools. All proceeds from the luncheon
are used to support the foundation’s mission to help all students achieve the
promise of their academic potential.
Co-Chaired by Elizabeth Brown and Leslie Patten, Nourish Every
Mind 2007 featured Master of Ceremonies Pat Cashman and Keynote
Speaker Scott Bedbury, an Issaquah School District parent and CEO of
Brandstream. Bedbury is also author of A New Brand World and architect
of Nike’s famed ‘Just Do It’ campaign.

Every parent in Issaquah needs to know about the
important work that Issaquah Schools Foundation is doing to help support
academic excellence at our school. This year through the efforts of ISF's Calling for Kids' spring fundraiser, over $137,200 has been raised to date to assist the
District with updating the 10 year-old 10th Grade Biology Curriculum. In addition, ISF helps to
fund an After School Homework Program at our school and every other middle and
high school in the District, including PCFC.
Since 1997 our school has received $85,416 from ISF
in grants. These grants provided enrichment in the areas of arts,
emerging curriculum, language, literacy, math, science and
technology. Various programs and materials were provided to enhance
individualized learning of science (physics and biology) and
ecology. Other equipment/ software purchased included a ceramics kiln
and pottery wheel, language mastery software, special needs
technology and lab equipment including digital microscopes. Other
areas studied were government and robotics.
In the last three years, we received
$34,205 which included:
Digital Microscopes for High School Biology Courses -
Allow students to examine biological specimens by projecting images on
computers and video monitors for student learning and teacher instruction,
"Using new tools to investigate a system to discover new facts about the
system." (EARL 2.2)
Funding for the FIRST Robotics Competition (2005
and 2006) - Fund participation in the FIRST (For
Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition
which inspires students to explore science and technology as members of a team.
