The Issaquah Schools Foundation is a non-profit organization that
drives resources to help all students reach the promise of their academic
potential. They do this by bridging the gap between funds the state provides
for basic education and the dollars our schools need to prepare students for
success in school and life
Want to become more involved with the luncheon?
Become a Table Captain. It is easy and fun. Invite nine friends to join
you at your table, send periodic emails, and be a gracious host. A Table
Captain Kick-off meeting will be held Thursday, March
18 at the Issaquah School District Administration building. Contact Michelle Weldon to add
your name to the list.
VOICE
Mentor Program
Can
you give one hour a week to change a life? Then the
VOICE Mentor Program needs you. VOICE, a mentoring/tutoring program funded by
the Issaquah Schools Foundation and the Issaquah School District, matches
students in need with caring adults or high school students who can provide
one-to-one academic and social support. VOICE Mentors are currently serving 175
students in 21 schools, but demand far outweighs supply. Maple Hills Elementary
is especially in need of mentors. Make a difference… become a VOICE Mentor.

Every parent in Issaquah needs to know about the important
work that Issaquah Schools Foundation is doing to help support academic
excellence at our school.
Since 1997 our school has received over $85,416
from ISF in grants. These grants provided enrichment in the areas of arts,
emerging curriculum, language, literacy, math, science and technology. Various
programs and materials were provided to enhance individualized learning of
science (physics and biology) and ecology. Other equipment/ software purchased
included a ceramics kiln and pottery wheel, language mastery software, special
needs technology and lab equipment including digital microscopes. Other areas
studied were government and robotics.
Sixty-one grant applications were received this
year by the Foundation. District staff submitted applications for projects that
reflect vision and innovation in education, encourage academic achievement,
assist struggling students, and support pressing needs not covered by building
or district budgets. Recipients will be announced in March 2010. For more information,
visit the ISF website.
