IH PTSA Board of Directors consists of officers
elected by the general membership each spring for the following school year and
appointed committee chairs representing many areas of interest throughout our
school community. Following is the

Volunteers for Issaquah Schools

Descriptions:
Descriptions of the officers and committees are posted
below. This section is a
work-in-progress and additional descriptions will be posted as they become
available.
Issaquah Schools Foundation (ISF) Liaison
Communicates information from the Issaquah
Schools Foundation (ISF)
to the IHS PTSA, and provides PTSA support to ISF as needed. Tasks include: coordinate table(s) people to attend the
annual Issaquah Schools Foundation fundraising luncheon in October; coordinate
the presentation of ISF information at a PTSA meeting early
in the year; provide updates about ISF throughout the year to the PTSA membership,
both at PTSA
meetings and through PTSA website; provide information to the school staff
about the ISF grant application process and timing; and organize the PTSA’s
support of the ISF phone-a-thon in the spring.
Optional tasks may include:
recruit other table captains for IHS and organize an ISF information
table at curriculum night. This position is
supported by an ISF Liaison from the Issaquah PTSA Council.
Works with the counseling office to provide information to
new families at IHS. Supplies up-to-date
Community Center information and PTSA meeting
schedule.
Presides at all meetings and plans meeting agendas. Co-signs all PTSA contracts, reviews bank
statements and signs checks. Makes
appointments to positions and committees as designated in the Standing
Rules with approval of the Executive Committee. Serves as ex-officio member of all committees
except nominating committee. Attends and
votes as delegate to Issaquah PTSA Council.
Meets monthly with IHS principal to discuss common issues. Attends monthly IHS staff meetings to present
current PTSA projects and news.
Disseminates and communicates all information received pertinent to PTSA
programs, including circulating a monthly e-news to all PTSA members.
Keeps accurate minutes of all
meetings, and works with the President to establish meeting agendas. At
meetings, the Secretary records attendance and determines existence of quorum.
Notifies the President of any unfinished business and is responsible for
correspondence as designated by the President.
Maintains a copy of the Legal Documents notebook.
This position is responsible for finding senior parent
volunteers to plan three senior
year events: Senior Breakfast, Baccalaureate Ceremony and Senior
Celebration. These events all occur in June, but planning begins the summer
before for the Senior Celebration. To

Information” link on the school website.
The liaison begins finding parent volunteers in the spring of Junior
year and through the summer. The liaison
may or may not be in a leadership role for these events. The liaison will attend
the monthly PTSA meetings and report on events as required. The liaison works
with the PTSA Treasurer to ensure deposits are completed correctly and checks
issued as required.
The PTSA
hosts a luncheon for the entire school staff at the beginning and end of the
school year. The fall staff luncheon is
generally served before the first day of school and the end of the year
luncheon happens on or near the last day of school. All luncheon items are donated or purchased
from the PTSA budget.
Staff Refreshments
Provides refreshments for monthly IHS Staff Meetings. Eighteen parent volunteers are scheduled each
month to supply food and beverages for the staff meetings. Parents invest a small amount of time for a
whole lot of gratitude from our staff!
Responsible for
collecting the student and school information, and formatting a directory that
is distributed to all PTSA members.
Treasurer
Keeps accurate financial records at all times. Receives, issues receipts and deposits
promptly in an authorized account all monies and disburses monies from
authorized account according to the approved annual budget. Presents a written financial statement at
each regular meeting and at other times as required by the Presidents. Provides all financial records if requested
by the President or membership. Serves
as chairperson of the budget committee and presents the budget to the
membership. Closes books on June 30th
and submits the books and records for audit to a qualified accountant or
auditing committee of no fewer than 3 members appointed by the President.
Pacific Cascade
Freshman Campus (PCFC) does not have its own PTSA but is operated
jointly by Issaquah High and Skyline High PTSAs. There is a “VP Freshman Campus” in both
organizations, and these VPs work together to co-lead the PCFC PTSA. The VPs plan and run monthly PTSA meetings at
PCFC. They are liaisons between PCFC and
the high school PTSAs, the Issaquah PTSA Council, and the PCFC Site
Council. They manage the funds allocated
to PCFC from each high schools’ PTSA budgets.
They are assisted by two Freshman Campus
VP of Fundraising
Assists the PTSA Board in collecting the "Pass the
Hat" contributions from our parent community at registration in the
summer. Collects, reviews and reports to
the PTSA Board information about any Teacher Special Funding Requests during
the year. Attends monthly PTSA meetings
at the high school.
Responsible for
coordinating the membership drive, entering data for all members, and mailing the
student directory to members. Attends
monthly PTSA meetings at the high school.
VP of Volunteers
The Vice President(s) of
Volunteers compile the information received from PTSA volunteer forms into committee
lists and distribute each list to the appropriate PTSA committee. They also procure volunteers as requested
throughout the school year for such events as:
Homecoming and Tolo Dances; PSAT and AP test proctors; etc.
Maintains the PTSA website, www.issaquahhighptsa.org. Updates the home page weekly and updates the
remaining web pages as changes occur.
Also updates the “Seminars / Classes” and “Special Services” web pages
that are accessed from the “Parent Information” page of the school
website. Information to post is gathered
from a variety of sources including, but not limited to: committee chairpeople; school and district
e-news; other websites; and monthly PTSA meetings.
