Baccalaureate

Date to be determined – usually the weekend before Graduation

An Annual Inspirational Celebration For all Seniors and their Families

Baccalaureate is an annual, traditional part of graduation week that will take place on the weekend before graduation, usually on Saturday at 2PM.

Long ago Baccalaureate used to be a church service with a sermon.  Now it has become more of an inspirational, intimate event.  It is free to all participants -- students and families alike -- and will be held at an area church.  Usually about 100+ seniors, their parents, siblings, grandparents, and close friends attend. This totals between 400 and 500 people.

We plan to have 8 to 12 musical groups and individuals perform.  In between musical performances, there will be readings by a few seniors and two adult speakers.  In the past both an IHS teacher and a professional motivational speaker have briefly addressed the seniors in an inspirational manner. The IHS art department has been instrumental in helping with invitations and advertising.  The music department and general student body has been a source for performers.

We would like to have 8 to 12 parents help us plan and coordinate the Baccalaureate for June 2010.  We plan to meet monthly to organize this event.  There are big and small jobs to complete.
